Knee Osteoarthritis Pre/Post Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Loss Biomarker Study

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and its associated pain in obese patients scheduled to have bariatric surgery or a monitored weight loss program. Bariatric surgery may include laparoscopic gastric banding (LAGB), laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and Roux-En-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and are all different surgeries for weight loss that have been discussed with you by the bariatric surgical team if you are considering surgery. This study will evaluate and compare the effect of the different surgical and medical weight loss methods on knee osteoarthritis.
